I was sitting inside the municipal office waiting for the Nodal officer to come...as expected he came

N.O: May I come in sir?

Me: Yes please come in.

he came in, I smirked at him he was anxious, he had to be

Me: Please sit down, it's your cabin right

N.O: Sir...

Me: I think the government must change the working hours of government offices from 9- 5 to 11- 3 pm because that's when sir is available...am I right

N.O: Sir......

Me: Sir what Do you have an explanation for this Please go ahead I am all ears

I said leaning back on the chair ready to listen to his lies. I mean reasons

N.O: Sir... it just happened today only sir...I wasn't informed about your visit here

Me: Oh should I make an appointment to come here.. that's news for me...I will keep this in mind next time.....please continue

N.O: Sir it's not like that ... I didn't mean that way You are my higher officer you can come whenever you want...it was just today I went home soon as I have a few personal matters, sir...

Me: Oh really ...it happened today only right?

N.O: Yes sir...it won't happen again

Me: Let's not go to the again word..... and if you forgot then let me remind you this office does have CCTV cameras and I came here an hour ago as I don't have any work by fault I checked all the footage and saw on my own eyes and rechecked your arriving and leaving time .....do you want to take a look at this....hmmm

He was silent so I continued

Me: I didn't come here for rounds instead I came here to get to know about the upcoming tenders and previous year's report, I could have just sent you a fax about it but I wanted to come and get it myself I thought I may need other documents I didn't want to make you come back again...but when I came here you already left and that public who came to meet you were still waiting outside all day as I need more proof so I went and asked about your effective working skills....and trust me I am impressed .......if you are that much busy with your personal life then please do care about it sitting in your house okay ...

I looked at my assistant Arun he passed his suspension order and before he started his pleading session I left the office along with the complaint letters and a few of other requesting letters the public gave me...

I was returning to my office to get my laptop and a few other documents I didn't think this would take this long....anyways it was over

I asked Arun to include random rounds and inspections like this in my schedules sometimes, and then I left my office Selvam Anna was driving the car and I sat in the passenger seat not the backseat ..

I again went back to the conversation I had with Akka and Mama....its been a week I still couldn't get free time or leave to visit them so I was trying my best to convince her through a phone call...

it's not working but I find out her tricks......yes it has always been Amma who complains about me not visiting them, but it is always Akka who supports me and convinces Amma......now she is reacting like this and purposely mentioning the word marriage and the future wife and all all the calls she included or conclude with this topic.

That means she is expecting me to say those iconic words that all the family members want to hear when they decide to get married that is "Okay ...I will do whatever you guys ask "...sometimes the words may differ but they want to hear that only so that they can decide your future with someone else whom you have no idea...

they did try to match me up with a few and arranged meetups, but I didn't get that spark or that feeling of living the rest of my life with that girl ...planned I couldn't see myself and those girls as a family, so it always ended up in No.....

Now they are fed up with these meetings, so they are trying these tricks... I am not going to fall for it...I think Akka figured it out that I caught her before she planned something else, I had to do something ......

it's not that I don't want to get married and live alone all my life ...i am not a saint but something in me is stopping me from agreeing with the marriage proposals my family came up with....

maybe it's her......that girl ... I don't even know her name...

When I was in my thoughts the car was stopped and loud horns could be heard....we were at the signal just lingered I heard the same voice that lingering in my ears for the past 5 years whenever I had time to think about myself......

"Yov unakenna kannu kuruda.....signal potrukanga ne patuku horn adikura kathu valikuthu konjam niruthu ena collector velaika poga pora and entha paithiyakara collector 6 maniku mela velaiku povan paithiyakarapaya......."

(Yov are you blind .....can't you see that signal Why are you making me deaf with your horn sound which collector work are you going for and which idiotic collector goes to work after 6 pm idiotic fellow..... )

her words died in between and her eyes widened when she noticed the national emblem and at government service tag on the car and looked up our eyes made contact her eyes widened even more I chuckled at the that she was cute ...she immediately lowered her eyes and turned straight soon the signal turned green she flew and disappeared from my eyes just like how she vanished years back after proposing me .......but this time I am going to find her and give an answer for that proposal which I didn't give back then or should I say she didn't give me a chance to speak.....

I came back to village Murthi Anna already left cooking food for me I took a hot shower and changed into comfortable clothes.....I sat in the garden and looked at the sky filled with stars and in between that cluster of stars there was a bright and prominent full moon dominating the night sky.....it again reminded me of her the first time I saw her...

it was 5 years ago when I was the assistant collector of Nilgiri that was my first posting ...and that year flower fest was arranged I went there to look after the arrangements as the minister going to visit the next day ....it was crowded and people were all around many came with family and few schools also came to visit I could spot many school uniforms......

as I was inspecting one peacock statue made up of flowers just then someone tapped my shoulder When I looked back that's when I saw her for the first time....she was nervous and trying to say something but except that she was speaking everything I could say that because of her eye movements and nervous smiles that made her more adorable in my eyes.....but my breath stuck when she finally asked me those words.....I still remember every word of her clearly

"Will you marry me?......................................

please give me an answer yes or no or if you don't have an answer say that at least"

I was silent and she continued looking back

"It's okay .....I know you might have already decided that I have a mental disorder but ... it's, not me it's them...you can spot a loose gang behind me that was the reason for this...I am extremely sorry ....... it was just a dare they gave me nothing else please just forgive me and them and sorry again if I disturbed you in any way......hmmmm I think....that's it...thank you....."

Exactly that's it she ran away from that place before I spoke a single word...she did apologize for disturbing me that day but how many apologies she will ask for disturbing and corrupting my mind for the past five years...I was not that free and had time to search for her all around but when I knew she was here what was wrong with searching ..........today seeing her again did something inside me... I don't have an idea why I am smiling nonstop after that she did look different and more mature she grew up as a woman from a girl..... Pshh...why did I observe her that much.....Did she have that much effect on me?... Why???

who are you ?.....why did you come into my life? ........ I asked looking at the full moon......
